China Titanium Industry Report

In terms of the recovery of the international aviation industry and the broad applications of titanium in the chemical industry, electricity and other civilian areas, that the demands of titanium have been greatly increased. According to statistics, in 2006 the output of world's titanium sponge reached 130,000 tons, which was equally as the peak level of 1980s. In the next few years, there will be a large number of additional production capacity of titanium sponge releasing into the global market, among TOHO will build up a new titanium sponge production line with an annual output of 12,000 tons; ATI is planned the expansion of its titanium sponge production capacity which will be divided into four chase, after the project completed the total annual output of titanium sponge will reach 18,000 tons; VSMPO is planned expanding its production of titanium sponge 1.5 times, reaching an annual output of 44,000 tons by 2010.
It is expected that by 2010 the world's titanium sponge production capacity will reach 320,000 tons, according to the calculation of an average 70% of the capacity utilization rate, that the world's titanium sponge output will reach 230,000 tons.
